CULTURAL COMMITTEE UPDATE

Thacher Parents' Association (TPA) is open to all parents and guardians of children enrolled at Thacher. Our role is to support the staff, the children and eachother through our TPA activities. The TPA enriches the school community and encourages parents and guardians to participate to their utmost ability to foster a cooperative Montessori environment. In order to reach that end, the TPA needs your help.
TPA meetings will be held monthly throughout the school year and we encourage all of you to attend.
If you have any ideas or suggestions that you would like to share, or if you want more information about how you can get involved with the TPA, please contact Carol directly at carolabreu@comcast.net.

LOWER ELEMENTARY CULTURAL NIGHT
The students in Lower Elementary will hold Cultural Night on May 15. Every year each class chooses a country or region to study in depth. Students do research, create posters, maps and artifacts, and present a short play relating to their area of study. The children present the plays to parents and then present research projects and share foods from their country in their respective classrooms. Students should report to their classrooms at 6PM. Families are invited to wait in the activity center until the performances begin at 6:30
LIBRARY NEWS
In order to accomodate construction of the library's second floor and atrium, the library will close early this year. The final due date for all books will be May 16. Books may not be taken home after May 16, but may be used in the classrooms until June.
If your chid has overdue books, you will be receiving frequent reminder notices to help in your search. We have done a complete inventory of the library, so our records are up to date. If your child has checked out a book that you have never seen, it could be in the classroom - please ask your child to check there as well.
RISING CEREMONY
Due to construction, this year's Rising Ceremony will occur off campus on Friday, June 13, 2008.
