Our Program

Thacher Montessori School maintains excellence in its delivery of the Montessori Method by building on three critical cornerstones:

Individual Attention

We continually devote our time to each child and family enabling us to optimize the Thacher experience for each child.

Daily Assessment & Observation

Constant, careful observation and guidance creates an individualized curriculum and custom educational experience for each child.

Optimized Learning Environment

Originally built as a Montessori school, our facility supports key Montessori principles of independence, nature, and connectedness. Our classrooms are bright with abundant natural light. The classrooms are connected, with a floor plan that allows safe, independent movement within the building, and accessibility to nature and outdoor space.

In addition, we maintain faith and trust in the natural capabilities of our children when they are free to learn actively and intuitively. At Thacher, every lead guide has a Montessori teaching credential at the level at which he or she works, in addition to a college degree. In its commitment to the Montessori philosophy, Thacher is guided by the best principles of the Association Montessori International (AMI) and the American Montessori Society (AMS).

Our care of the child should be governed, not by the desire to make him learn things, but by the endeavor always to keep burning within him that light which is called intelligence.
Dr. Maria Montessori

Graduates of Thacher Montessori School are prepared for the challenges of a rigorous secondary and college education. Thacher allows each child to realize his or her potential, and to meet fully and confidently the academic challenges of the next level. Thacher graduates flourish in their new environments utilizing the creative, critical-thinking, and interpersonal skills they developed while Thacher students. Moreover, Thacher graduates are prepared for life: with over three decades of graduates, Thacher alumni have shown themselves to be productive, successful, and happy individuals.
