Thacher’s admissions process is designed to help you and the school become better acquainted. The following steps will facilitate an understanding of Thacher and its commitment to the Montessori system of education.

School Tour/Classroom Observations
Part of our application process is a meeting with the Director of Admissions or Head of School for a tour and classroom observations. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the Montessori philosophy and the educational process at Thacher. Private appointments are accepted Tuesday, Wednesday, or Fridays at 9:00 or 10:00 am October 19, 2009 through February 10, 2010. Please call Deba Palma, Director of Admissions, at 617-361-2522 extension 14, to schedule your tour.

Open Houses
Thacher offers two Open Houses during the school year to provide you with opportunities to see our school. Appointments are not necessary to attend an Open House.

Student Visit
After meeting with the Director of Admissions or Head of School, your child’s visit will be scheduled. The purpose of this visit is for Thacher guides (teachers) to interact with prospective students so that we may best determine if Thacher is the appropriate academic environment for your child.

Children’s House applicants visit with guides in small groups while their parents talk with faculty. The school is closed on Friday, February 12, 2010 for this interview day.

Applicants for the Elementary and Adolescent Programs spend an entire day in a classroom and visit individually with a guide.

Applications
Applications and a $50 application fee are due no later than Friday, January 29, 2010. The application will be considered complete after parents/guardians have observed in the classrooms, the student has visited, and we have received your application and fee. For children with prior school experience we also require a completed teacher evaluation form. (We will provide the appropriate evaluation form upon receiving your application.)

Acceptance
Acceptance letters are mailed on March 10, 2010 for entry in September, 2010.
