SUMMER 2008 CHILDREN'S HOUSE PROGRAM
(3 - 6 Year Olds)
Join us for a summer full of fun, friends and learning! Each week Thacher's Primary Summer Program focuses on a particular theme, with activities that encourage exploration and learning about culture and the natural world. Children will also enjoy playing outside on the playground, includining a wading pool and sprinkler play.
TIMES AND RATES
Full-Day: 8:30 am - 5:30 pm $320/week
Half-Day: 8:30 am - 11:30 am $185/week
Extra-Care: 7:30 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. $70.00/week
One-week tuition is due with registration. Balance is due June 1st.
POLICIES
Children must be currently enrolled at Thacher (as of fall 2008) or attending another Montessori School.
All children must be potty trained.
Thacher reserves the right to cancel programming if enrollment quota is not met.
SCHEDULE
Session 1 - Dinosaurs and other Prehistoric Creatures
June 23 - June 27
Join us this week to explore The Land Before Time where dinosaurs, mammoths and saber-toothed tigers roamed the earth. Learn about these giant creatures, create Tyrannosaurus Rex bones out of plaster, and dig for fossils.
Session 2: Safari
June 30 - July 3 (closed on Friday 7/4/08)
Join us this week as we take a safari through the wilds of Africa where we will explore the people, the climate, the animals and the culture of this amazing continent.
Session 3: Backyard Visitors
July 7 - July 11
Back by popular demand, this week will explore the animals that live in our very own back yards. Learn about these different creatures and their habitats, as well as enjoy a live animal presentation presented by the Blue Hill's Trailside Museum.
Session 4: The Big, Blue Ocean
July 14 - July 18
Sharks, penguins, fish and whales are just some of the creatures we will investigate this week when we study the oceans of the world. Learn why oceans are salty and blue, and what causes waves and tides.
Session 5: Lost in Space
July 21 - July 25
Join us this week as we explore our solar system, the sun, the planets, asteroids, comets, and our moon. It's sure to be a blast!
Session 6: Express Yourself Through Art
July 28 - August 1
Come join us for a week of art expression, where we will study and emulate the works of such artists as Vincent Van Gogh, Claude Monet and John James Audubon. Let your creativity flow!
Session 7: Weird Science
August 4 - August 8
Step into the lab as we explore the amazing world of science. Become an amateur scientist as we grow rock crystals and conduct mini-experiments. The week is sure to be filled with excitement.
Session 8: Our Amazing Earth
August 11 - August 15
Join us as we spend the week investigating the physcial sciences. We'll learn about the planet Earth, its structure, mass, and other features such as volcanos, rocks, and minerals.
