Summer 2012 Program
Elementary/Adolescent 2012 Summer Program
Living the Arts – A Dramatic Production
July 2 through July 20*
This is a drama/arts-based program for three weeks in which the children choose a play, then edit, rehearse, create props and sets, and perform in a final production. Living the Arts provides your child with an opportunity for creative expression, encourages teamwork, develops self-confidence, instills an appreciation for the work of others, creates a link between imagination and hard work, and offers a chance to think creatively. Victor McSurely will guide this program. Open to rising 1st graders through rising 8th graders.
* No program on July 4 in honor of Independence Day.
Living Music – A Musical Workshop
Weekly sessions, July 23 through August 10
This is a music-based program for any student entering fourth grade through middle school. Besides full group activities that focus on interaction, movement, and the fundamentals of music, the participants will work in small, mixed-age ensembles to learn music appropriate to their abilities. Victor McSurely will help each ensemble learn to play one well-known song, write and play one song of its own, and perform. Previous musical experience is not necessary but a willingness to participate in the work is. It is helpful, but not necessary, to own the type of instrument with which the student wishes to participate.
Students may register for one, two, or three weeks of Living Music.
Please contact Victor if you have any questions or special requests regarding these two elementary/adolescent programs.
