Employment Opportunities

Thacher Montessori School enjoys a rich cultural and geographic diversity in a natural setting.

The school sits between a 7,000-acre nature preserve and The Wakefield Estate, a 23-acre arboretum with livestock and specimen gardens, used for the adolescent program. Each of our 10 classrooms is led by a Montessori trained guide, assisted by a second faculty member, and, specialists at the elementary and adolescent levels. The school is accredited for all ages by the American Montessori Society (AMS) and recognized at the 0–3 and 3–6 levels by the Association Montessori International (AMI).

The Montessori Teacher

The Montessori teacher, or guide, functions as a role model, demonstrator, record keeper, and meticulous observer of each child’s behavior and growth.

Like his or her students, he or she is an active and curious learner. A delight in continual inquiry and growth and a respect for each child’s distinctive learning style and interests are among his or her key qualities.

The Montessori teacher prepares the active, developmentally appropriate learning environment, furnished with specially designed materials, where students explore, discover, and experience the joy of learning.
