Employment Opportunities

Thacher Montessori School enjoys a rich cultural and geographic diversity in a natural setting.

The school sits between a 7,000-acre nature preserve and The Wakefield Estate, a 23-acre arboretum with livestock and specimen gardens providing outdoor experiences for all students. Each of our eight classrooms is led by a Montessori-trained teacher, assisted by a second faculty member, and enrichment instructors at the elementary and middle school levels. The school is accredited for all ages by the American Montessori Society (AMS) and recognized at the 0–3 and 3–6 levels by the Association Montessori International (AMI).

The Montessori Teacher

The Montessori teacher, or guide, functions as a role model, demonstrator, record keeper, and meticulous observer of each student’s behavior and growth.

Like their students, they are active and curious learners. A delight in continual inquiry and growth and a respect for each child’s distinctive learning style and interests are among their key qualities.

The Montessori teacher prepares the active, developmentally appropriate learning environment, furnished with specially designed materials, where students explore, discover, and experience the joy of learning.
